nothing to declare Things are pretty much the same. The US gubmint is beginning to mobilize in some interesting ways--most notably by expanding anti-Castro radio and TV broadcasts to the island. I've been reading so many frothing-at-the-mouth crazy-eyed right-wing Miami blogs that I'm starting to feel a bit ill. But then again, one of my friends on Facebook updated her status to reflect that she is "praying for Fidel's health and speedy recovery," and that doesn't make me feel very good, either. In somewhat-related news, I just found out I'm going to be helping put together a book on the island's post-Soviet foreign policy--incredibly awesome, but a little scary, too; it seems like a responsibility that I hardly deserve. No matter how much I learn about Cuba, I don't think I'll ever feel like I know enough.  ¶ 12:25 PM
